Weird Homes Tour – Austin

In the heart of Austin’s 78704 lies this home dedicated to bright colors and bold ideas. Intuitive and art car artist Lois has lived in and worked on this complete work of art for over 20 years.

First of all, at least 23 different colors appear on the exterior and interior walls. While normally chaotic, Lois’ deep color theory and philosophy makes so many colors harmonious and healing. Equally harmoniously chaotic are her multitudes of collections inside. Salt and pepper shakers, hats, troll dolls and everything Rolling Stones fill the colorful walls. During tours Lois likes to give a light show in her unique bathroom with its uniquely lit 109 dichroic glass tiles.

And just wait ’til you see the backyard. She created a rock star rock garden and a fence with an undersea mural. In it, Lois swims merrily under the sea as a mermaid.

This fan favorite as sports a brand new ocean fence and beach driveway by local artist Dale Whistler.
