Weird Homes Tour – New Orleans

At 176 square feet, Michael Burnside officially lives in the tiniest home in New Orleans.  And the story of just how he came to own that home is quite inspirational. After experiencing homelessness for several years, Michael saved up his modest retirement pension to purchase some land .  On it, he built his home with his own two hands. Michael chose to build his home so small not to be “weird” but rather to inspire others to live more minimally.  Because of Michael’s past, he developed a strong sense of what he actually needed and (more importantly) what we all really just do NOT need. The more stuff we have, the more responsibility we have to that stuff. As he would put it: “a small house means small cleaning, small maintenance, and a small impact on the neighborhood.”

So come by the tiniest home in New Orleans and be inspired to live smaller!

The Weird Homes Tour’s series of annual self-paced, self-driving tours showcase unique and interesting homes in cities all across the USA.  They are highly Instagram and social media worthy family-friendly events where photos are welcome.
