Weird Homes Tour – Austin

Bill, along with a few helpers, built the Earthbag House with love, sweat and tears. Earthbag building uses burlap or another bag material to hold dirt that very closely resembles adobe. These adobe earthbags are filled on top of the wall, scoop by scoop, with locally sourced dirt.

Earthbag building has many advantages. First they use low cost in materials and require a low skill level to build. Next, this process makes these homes very strong. They are resistant to hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fire and termites. And finally, this method is very green, eco-friendly and sustainable.

Want to see what they look like inside? Meet the owner? Figure out how you can build you own? Only on the Weird Homes Tour.

The Weird Homes Tour’s self-driving tours showcase unique and interesting homes in cities all across the USA.  They are highly Instagram and social media worthy and family-friendly events where photos are welcome.
