Weird Homes Tour – New Orleans

Behind a charming Mediterranean Revival home stands a structure more likely to be seen in fields of wheat than the backyard of a Gentilly home. There you will find a unique Rapunzel like tower, a grain silo transformed into a cottage straight out a fairytale.

Robin and Bob Antin found the Silo on Craigslist and bought it on a whim. It all started with an article Robin read about alternative construction methods using recycled materials. Reclaimed wood walls and restored antique stained-glass windows come from the former St. Frances Cabrini Church.

They call the Silo their “art project” and it shows. The porthole-shaped windows, hand painted designs and custom furniture really make it feel like home, rather than a former industrial farm bin.

Take a trip to the Spain Street Silo, a fairytale that could only exist in the Big Easy.

The Weird Homes Tour’s self-driving tours showcase unique and interesting homes in cities all across the USA.  They are highly Instagram and social media worthy and family-friendly events where photos are welcome.
