Austin, Texas

On a quiet tree-lined street in Austin’s Hyde Park, close to the University of Texas, this historic 1950 property designed by George L Walling is a home preserved in time. It’s mid-century furnishings and decor, site-gathered masonry walls and fireplace, checkerboard cork floors, peachy Formica kitchen, wood paneling, and board-and-batten siding will take you back to another time. The current owner left everything as he found it and we are happy he did!

And don’t forget about the surprise elevated tree-house wing in the back. Not only does it give great views of the extended backyard but it also acts like a large covered terrace. Perfect for Austin’s hot summer days.

The Weird Homes Tour’s self-driving and virtual home tours showcase unique and interesting homes in cities all across the world.  They are highly Instagram and social media worthy and family-friendly events where photos are welcome.
