Tucked away in a quiet eastside Detroit neighborhood hides a handmade wonderment of custom woodworking and true Detroit DIY-style skill. Revived from its official Condemned status by the city, and once crumbling at nearly all its seams, Ron’s Recycled Roost is a combination of many reclaimed, recycled, donated, and sometimes even trash picked Detroit relics and materials.

And even the name, Ron’s Recycled Roost, isn’t wrong as it once sported a fully functional chicken coop in its backyard. Everything from the home’s shipping palette shingles, to its upcycled church pew pull chain toilet, to its cabin-like vaulted ceiling and lath board mosaic walls, to its colorful and lighthearted kitchen, plus some seriously notable tilework, makes this two-story wooden abode a must-see gem!
